Super Doubles rumor: August 6!

Posted July 23

It looks like Harris Teeter will be offering another Super Doubles promotion running from August 6 through August 8!

We won't have it officially confirmed until the e-Vic e-mail on Friday, August 4, but my very reliable source has already let me know about the upcoming promotion. You can all thank Daniel for the heads up!

Time to get your coupons ready. I'll have a super doubles list posted the week of the event.

You can print coupons from the Smart Shopper coupons link below and there were 2 inserts in the paper today, July 23.

Coupon policies and tips for shopping Harris Teeter Super Doubles:

* HT should be Super Doubling coupons worth up to $2 face value. This means that a $1.00 coupon will double to $2.00, a $1.50 coupon will double to $3.00 and a $2.00 coupon will double to $4.00!

* HT begins super doubling coupons at 7:00 AM on the first day of the sale. 24 hour stores do not super double coupons before 7:00 AM on the first day (at least that is how it has always worked in the past). Your best bet is to get to the store before 7 am if you want to get the freebies and best deals. Some people get there at 6:15 am or earlier and then wait in line until the register allows coupons to begin Super Doubling at 7 am.

* HT will super double/double up to 20 coupons per household per day. Spouse's cards registered with the same address are linked because the policy is 20 per household, per day. If you have twenty $1 coupons and twenty .75 coupons, only 20 total will double. They will not double 20 coupons that are under $1 and also super double another 20 coupons that are over $1. It's 20 total coupons that are $2 or less doubled per day.

* HT policy is to double up to 3 identical coupons (as long as you buy the product required for each coupon, of course). So, if you have five $1.00 coupons for a product, the policy is to only super double the first three. The other 2 will be accepted at face value.

* Printable coupons: HT will accept 3 printable coupons per like item, per store, per day, according to their policy. So if you buy 3 identical items and you have a printable coupon for each one, you can use all three.

* New Raincheck policy as of March 29: Harris Teeter will no longer let customers combine a raincheck with a coupon for the same item. In addition, rainchecks now expire 60 days after they are issued.

* If your store is out of your favorite deals (and they will be out of some of them) ask the customer service folks when the next truck arrives so you know when they will be restocking.

* Enjoy the deals you are able to get and please remember that many of the best deals will sell out quickly. The stores will reorder those items, but often, the warehouse runs out so they cannot get the stock. Please be nice to the store employees as it is not their fault if items are out of stock. And if you are excited about your great deals, give Harris Teeter a call at their Customer Service number, send them an e-mail via their website or post a comment to their Facebook page to thank them. Happy Shopping!

Thanks 3boys32! I agree, I only shop HT for great sales and freebies and rely on Food Lion and Aldi's to do the bulk of my shopping. I do the same with Kroger - only shop sale items. Thanks!

I agree with LIVIN2SHOP! They run out of the sales items in record times, and don't get re-stocked during the new Sun-Tues SD's. Why bother with a rain check? You can't even hold on to the rain check until the coupon and stars align, as the rain checks are now only valid for 30 days. In fact, I didn't even bother to go to HT for the past SD's event. I found lots of great deals at FoodLion. I have, for the most part, switched completely to FL now as our main grocery store. I do get a few things from HT still. I will utilize the every day doubling of coupons if they have a good price on a product we use. I was angry initially, then sad, now I'm approaching acceptance:) I have shopped much more also at Target this past year as the changes came about with HT. I guess an upside would be I don't scour the coupon sites anymore and I have cut out one of my yearly subscriptions.

I am curious as I have been missing topics - is anyone upset with the HT coupon and raincheck policies? I was so frustrated this past SD - many of the items were out and I checked back a few times - was no use getting a raincheck....ugh.....help me see the good in the new policy. Thanks

I'm sure the couponers at the OBX are glad for any SD's during "the season". Last year in April I did SD's at OBX and the lady cashier told me they didn't get SDs during "the season." I still love the OBX even if I did get a speeding ticket Memorial Day weekend on the way there in Columbia, NC, Tyrrell County coming off the Scuppernong River bridge. Watch out ya'll!

    What about the OBX stores?
Are they participating? The last one they did Wed to Fri

Yes an event is happening every first Sunday of the month unless there is a holiday.

    sdoss1 - you are welcome!

laalaa99stl - I'm glad the Sun-Tues format works for you. Not everyone will agree, but at least it works for some. :-) And I agree about that the next event will likely be after Labor Day. I'll post as soon as I hear something. Good luck with this one!

Woops. I meant 4 weeks, not 3. There doesn't appear to be a way to edit posts. I also like that the start of SD now falls on a weekend. It's (slightly) less disruptive for people who work a regular 9 to 5.

  • laalaa99stl Jul 23, 4:47 p.m.

Another nice thing about the new blitz format of SDs is that if you had a less-than-awesome SD, it'll be just a few short weeks before the next one comes up. This was a short wait of 3 weeks. The next one will probably a long wait of 5 weeks because of Labor Day.

I swear I don't work for HT. I just really like the new format!

Thanks for the heads up, Faye!!
