Sunshine, warmer temps on tap for Father's Day

Raleigh, N.C. — Father's Day will be filled with "plenty of sun" and warmer temperatures as the mercury is expected to rise into the mid to upper 80s, according to WRAL Chief Meteorologist Greg Fishel.
Overnight temperatures will be mild, but the mercury is expected to climb to 68 degrees by 8 a.m.
"We may see a few clouds in the morning," he said. "By noon time it is mostly sunny and things will stay that way into the afternoon."
Temperatures are expected to rise into the mid 80s by noon Sunday and will top out around 87 degrees across the Triangle.
Sunday is a big day for golfers as players enter the final round of play at the U.S. Open. The weather should cooperate nicely with mainly sunny skies and highs near 90 degrees in Pinehurst, Fishel said.
By Monday, things will really start to heat up as temperatures are expected to rise into the 90s.
"The heat builds from Tuesday to Friday," Fishel said. "We could see temperatures into the upper 90s by midweek."
