Toasty, roasty week on tap
Warm afternoons with temperatures at or near the 90-degree mark and a daily chance of thunderstorms, a classic early summer pattern, return this week to central North Carolina.
Posted — UpdatedThe heat and humidity build in beginning on Monday, when the afternoon will feature highs in the upper 80s to around 90 degrees, along with a very slight chance of an afternoon storm, mainly north and west of the Triangle.
Tuesday brings the greatest chance for storms, although that chance is only around 50 percent. It will be very warm and rather humid under mostly cloudy skies with showers will be possible at any point. The best chance for thunderstorms all week comes Tuesday afternoon and evening when an isolated storm or two could produce intense downburst winds.
From Wednesday through the weekend, the pattern is more settled, with highs in the low 90s, some clouds and a slight chance for storms daily.
