There's nothing I love better on a hot summer day than sinking into a comfy seat at in a cool movie theater and entertaining my kids for next to nothing.

Theaters, libraries, parks and other venues are gearing up for a few months of family-friendly movie screenings now that school is just about out.

Our free and cheap summer movie database lists three dozen options for inexpensive summer movie fun and includes their 2018 schdules.

A couple of things to note that are new for this year:

The new Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in east Raleigh, which just opened in April, has a summer movie program.
And the Raleigh Grande in north Raleigh also has lined up $1 movies for kids.

See you at the movies!
