Another sign of spring: A couple of destinations are shifting their operating hours for the warmer weather.

First, the Museum of Life and Science in Durham is now operating with its summer hours. Hours through Sept. 12 are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday; and noon to 5 p.m., Sunday.

Some seasonal favorites also are now open at the museum.

Into the Mist is on for the season with the mist fields running full blast. The stream at Hideaway Woods is a great place to cool off, and the hammock lounge is now back. And, on busy weekends and holidays during the spring, Sprout Café will have an alternate “grab and go” food stand available for guests with sandwiches and drinks/
Starting Friday, the N.C. Zoo in Asheboro will extend its day by an hour. It will be open to the public from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., daily through October.
