Looking to save a bit of money at the pump?

You might want to consider which day you fill up, according to a study released Wednesday by GasBuddy, a tech company that helps consumers find cheap gas.

GasBuddy says it studied three years of fuel price data and found that gas prices are at their lowest on Mondays. The worst day at the pump? Thursday.

GasBuddy says the best day to buy gas also depends on which part of the country you're in. In 2017 so far, Monday is the best day of the week in 23 states.

In 2016, Monday was the day to buy in 36 states, while Tuesday took home the best day title in eight states.

“The rise in average prices towards the weekend could be to blame on an influential report from the Energy Information Administration issued weekly on Wednesdays, which could push prices higher the day after, depending on if data in its report is as expected or a surprise,” Patrick DeHaan, senior petroleum analyst at GasBuddy, said in a statement.

“Since commodities trading isn’t active over the weekend, it typically allows stations to ‘let it ride’ over the weekend, culminating in lower prices by the start of the work week.”

In North Carolina, drivers are currently paying an average of about $2.27 per gallon, about 19 cents higher than April 2016 and about 9 cents higher than March of this year.

The Triangle average is also $2.27 per gallon, about 17 cents higher than this time last year.
