Pullen' Together For Breezy Point
RALEIGH, N.C. — Middle schoolers from the Saint Mary Magdalene Catholic School in Apex took to the stage Saturday in a benefit concert to help the victims of Hurricane Sandy.

The students decided to do this after they learned that one of their teachers, Tara Navarro, had family members who collectively lost more than 20 homes in Breezy Point New York.

They preformed Saturday afternoon at Pullen Park in Raleigh, calling their event Pullen’ Together For Breezy Point.

Students ran the show — singing and playing a variety of instruments. Sixth grader Brooke Hatala who plays guitar and sings was one of the performers. Hatala, 11, often plays at local events and venues in the Triangle. She says she was motivated to participate in this concert because she felt so strongly about the victims after seeing the pictures of the devastation.
