— A school bus driver in Pitt County has been charged in connection with a crash that sent three high school students to a local hospital Thursday afternoon.

WITN News in Washington reported that Margie Perkins, 66, of Bethel, was charged with a safe movement violation after she allegedly pulled in front of a car, wedging it beneath the bus, outside North Pitt High School.

The car's passengers were taken to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, where they were being treated Thursday afternoon.

Their medical conditions weren't known.

Several students on the bus were also hurt, WITN reported, although it was unclear how many or to what extent they were injured.

Too bad they took the toll free number off the back of the school buses so you can call and report one breaking the law. Only a few still have it on the back bumper, but I think it should be on back, AND front bumpers as well as along the side.
If dumptrucks and others can have it "How's my driving" why shouldn't something with such valuable cargo?????

I hope all that were involved are ok.

Bad drivers do a lot of damage. It only takes one unsafe movement to create a crash but most bad drivers drive bad consistently.

If police enforced the traffic laws these consistent bad drivers would either improve their driving or loose their driving privileges.

    agree w/ jma47. Would rather have a 66yo driving a bus than a 23 yo.

I do see the 'younger' bus drivers daily and they are speeding, running trailing yellow lights (sometimes red), not staying completely in their lanes etc. That's not safe either.

Rebelyell55, for your information 66 is not very old, also most drivers that age with experience are much safer than a lot of the younger ones!

Sixty six and driving a bus? There is no age limit?
