RALEIGH, N.C. — The three Wakefield High School students who are charged in the beating of another student are under house arrest after a court appearance Friday.

District Attorney Colon Willoughby asked Judge Robert Rader to raise the bond for Micah Hakeem Conley, 16, Shawn Wilson-Chism, 16, and Tyree Lee, 17. Rader refused, but added three other provisions to the men's bond agreement.

They are under house arrest, are forbidden to have contact with each other, and are barred from all Wake County Public School System property.

Lee and Conley are charged with assault inflicting serious injury. Wilson-Chism is charged as an accessory after the fact.

DJ Merwitz, 15, was hospitalized after the fight Monday at Wakefield High School. He suffered multiple fractures to his face, a broken nose and a concussion and required five stitches above his right eye. His parents say he will need reconstructive surgery.
