Student facing criminal charges banned from N.C. State campus

Posted July 31, 2008

— North Carolina State sophomore Whitney Blakeney, 19, must live at home if she makes $25,000 bond, a judge ruled Thursday.

Blakeney was arrested Wednesday in relation to the shooting near the Wolf Village apartments.

She is charged with accessory after the fact.

Blakeney was also charged with maintaining a dwelling for the purpose of selling marijuana, a charge that carries an automatic expulsion from university housing. She has been banned from university property.

Blakeney is the fourth person charged in a crime that police believe is gang-related.

Another N.C. State sophomore, Ryan Barnes, 20, and two men, Leroy Barnes Jr., 19, and Terrell Grimes, 16, were charged Tuesday with attempted murder and assault. All were in jail under $1 million bonds.

Police said a man was shot in the stomach and a woman shot in the foot while sitting under a campus gazebo early Monday. The believe the man was the target.

Time to transfer to NCCU! They gave the Duke Lacrosse stripper Crystal Mangum a degree there even though she has a long criminal record.
To all the Politically correct apologists out there, she knew what she was doing was a crime , whether you agree with the drug laws or not . She should be expelled and not allowed into any state colleges. Criminals are criminals, she is charged as a an accessory to the shooting.

I had to bring it up because I know a quite a few white kids with good grades that could not get into NC State because they have to let criminals in. Joan B.

Of course you'd assume that just b/c they are black, that they somehow got in on a free ride and that they don't have good grades. Pure ignorance. Smart kids do stupid stuff all the time. Anyone who's been on a college campus knows this. Until you see these kids GPA, it's ignorant to say that they shouldn't have been there. I'm not excusing what they did and they should be punished. But, this has nothing to do w/ race, so put your deck up.

This is standard practice for public universities. They can throw a student off campus at the moment of accusation.

Now think back to Duke Lacrosse. Didn't Duke lay a swift hand at accusation?

"Some well qualified person was probably turned down for admission to let her in."

How do you know she isn't qualified? Have you ever seen her high school transcript? Do you know anything about her other than what you're reading here? I'm not in any way defending her behavior, but comments like yours make you look...well...stupid.

Afirmative action @ work @ NCSU admissions. Some well qualified person was probably turned down for admission to let her in.

Joan B: now that you've brought the race card in, the door is open for comments like aegunc. It wasn't necessary. Couldn't you have just left it at a student problem?
