Strollers are now officially allowed at the N.C. Museum of Art.

I've never had a problem pushing my kids over the years around the main galleries. But an old policy that didn't allow strollers usually came in to play during the museum's special exhibits. I definitely got a workout as I carried my then one-year-old daughter around the Norman Rockwell exhibit last year.

Museum officials tell me that the new policy is about two months old.

Here is what it officially states: "Strollers are welcome in the museum; however, their use may be restricted near fragile art or in busy galleries." You can also read it here on their website. Museum security staff will determine whether a gallery is too busy.
So this means you probably won't have to park your stroller at the entrance to the new Rembrandt in America exhibit, which opened late last month.

I'll have more about that exhibit and how to talk about it with kids on Friday. And I'll definitely be back, with my kids, including one in the stroller.

If you haven't recently checked out all of the kids and family programs the museum has, click here to take a look.
