Strawberry season begins! Local u-pick farms are beginning to open
Thanks to a warm winter, the 2017 strawberry season is off to an earlier than usual start.

Thanks to a warm winter, the 2017 strawberry season is off to an earlier than usual start. Many farms near Raleigh, Durham and the Triangle region are open for the season - or getting ready to.
Our farm fresh database, which lists farm stands, u-pick farms and markets, lists them all. Some farms have pre-picked berries for sale and will open their u-pick fields in the next week or two. Others have u-pick fields open already.
Some of the farms open now include Porter Farms' Raleigh and Willow Spring locations; Gross Farms in Sanford; and Smith's Nursery in Benson. Vollmer Farm in Bunn is scheduled to open Wednesday.
