If you haven't heard, Quail Ridge Books & Music will be moving out of its long-time home at Ridgewood Shopping Center off Wade Avenue in just a few short weeks and to a new home at North Hills.
The move will mean some big changes for the popular store, which offers slate of programs each week, including for kids and teens.
First, the store is having a moving sale through March 5. Customers can enjoy 25 percent off books, cards, gift items, CDs and other merchandise that is in stock. (That sale excludes newspapers and new books by authors having events at Quail Ridge in February and March). All sale merchandise is nonreturnable. The store's hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sunday. Fixtures also are on sale, including freestanding bookshelves, wall bookshelves, tables, office desks and more. Prices are generally $50 per fixture.
The store will be closed for a period of time, but will reopen in a temporary space that will be called Quail Ridge Books on the Wing sometime after March 15. The shop will be located next door to Ruth's Chris Steak House in North Hills, 4381 Lassiter Mill Rd., Raleigh. The shop will operate with the same hours as the current store.
Finally, author events and activities will continue, including the free weekly 10:30 a.m., Monday, storytimes for preschoolers (except on March 7 and March 14 during the move). Children's book author (and Triangle mom) Kelly Starling Lyons will launch her latest book "One More Dino on the Floor," a counting book, at the Ridgewood location's final author event at 2 p.m., March 5. The counting book is best for kids ages 4 and up.
After that, Quail Ridge will partner with Meredith College, the McKimmon Center at N.C. State, Burning Coal Theatre and others to host events. Its first author event at QRB On the Wing will be April 8.
