West Rowan scored nine runs in the second inning, and cruised to a third straight victory via run rule after taking down Carson 11-0.

Nine different Falcons registered hits, and six drove in runs. Riley Haggas had a three RBI afternoon while the freshman duo of Reese Poole and Kayla Burns each drove in a pair.

Burns kick-started the big second inning by breaking a scoreless tie with a two-run single. Emma Clarke scored her with a double to right, and from there the floodgates opened.

Poole dumped a single down the line to plate two, Arabelle Shulenburger drove her in, EA Nance rocked a base hit up the middle that brought across Lacey Houghton, then Haggas saw a dropped pop-up to shallow center allow Taylor Kelley and Taylor Keller to motor home for a 9-0 advantage.

The early offense was all that Shulenburger needed in the circle. In her five innings of work, the junior allowed one hit and struck out seven.

Clarke drew a third inning walk and pitch later, turned it into a run scored. The Tennessee recruit stole second, took advantage of the throw that went into center by advancing to third, then quickly scampered home on a bobbled relay attempt.

Kelley scored her second run of the game in the fourth after courtesy running for Nance and crossing on a sacrifice fly from Haggas.

Now 13-6 overall and 9-3 in conference play, West Rowan travels to Lake Norman Charter on Friday. The Falcons are outscoring opponents 48-5 in the midst of their three-game winning streak.

Carson dropped to 3-15 overall, and hits the road to take on Concord next.
