Sloane Heffernan wasn't gone that long, but we still missed her!

The longtime WRAL reporter and anchor decided to leave the news industry in June to launch Storymore, a brand storytelling business. But we were able to get her to come back as a Go Ask Mom contributor.

Catch up with her below:

How many children, pets, family members are you caring for?

We have three kids: two sons (16 & 14 years old) and a 10 year old daughter. We also have the sweetest English Bulldog named Rosie.

What type of parent would you describe yourself as?

Parenting is hard! That's what my mother told me, and she was right!

My kids would describe me as over-protective. I would describe myself as a work-in-progress. My motto is: "Do you best and forget the rest".

What has been the most rewarding part of parenting or caregiving?

The most rewarding part of parenting has been watching my children grow in their faith, independence and politeness.

What are some of the biggest challenges you have faced in your life?

The biggest challenge that I have faced in my life was the death of my mom. While I know that she will always be with me in spirit, there is an emptiness that will never be filled.

What are some of the stories or topics you are excited to write about and share on WRAL?

I am excited to write about the joys and struggles of parenting. There is no perfect parent. I hope that we can learn from each other while on this journey. I also hope to share some of my favorite family activities here in North Carolina.

You can catch Sloane's posts throughout the month on Go Ask Mom.
