Magician Michael Carbonaro from the very popular TV series “The Carbonaro Effect” is at the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts for one show at 7:30 p.m., Friday. Tickets are about $35. Carbonaro brings his signature blend of bizarre antics, audience interaction, hilarious video clips, and mind-blowing magic, live on stage, according to the description. My kids love his show. The live show is designed for all ages.
Lake Crabtree County Park will host its fourth annual Pollinator Festival. It’s 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, at the park in Morrisville. The event features games, crafts, and all sorts of other activities celebrating everything that pollinators do for us and the rest of the planet. There will be prizes and stuff for you to take home, local experts to answer your questions, and food trucks. It’s free.
In Chapel Hill, the Lumina’s outdoor movie series features “The Jungle Book,” the live action, 2016 version on Friday and Saturday nights.
Pullen Park hosts Stories in the Park from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Saturday, featuring the Village Storytellers. It’s free and designed for families with younger kids.
The N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences opens American Adventure on Saturday with a slate of special activities. Admission to the exhibit is $5.
Duke Homestead in Durham is offering free history-themed activities and crafts for kids and their adults from 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday (and on the third Saturday of every month from May to October). This weekend, the focus is on historic toys and games. Kids also can make a 19th century toy of their own to take home.
In Durham, the 12th annual N.C. Juneteenth Celebration is 1 p.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday, in downtown Durham. The day includes music, a health fair, a children’s village, vendors and more.
