Slide the City - A giant waterslide will be on Glenwood Avenue on Saturday for the first Slide the City event in Raleigh. The fun starts at noon and goes until 5 p.m. Tickets are sold out but hopefully more will be released.
Wool E. Bull's Birthday - Help the Durham Bulls' mascot celebrate his birthday at the ballpark on Sunday. The game starts at 5:05 p.m. and there will be festivities throughout the night.
Midtown Farmers Market Iron Chef - Some great chefs at North Hills in Raleigh will be competing in the annual Iron Chef competition during the Midtown Farmers Market on Saturday morning. This year, the chefs are tasked with serving up brunch entrees using secret ingredients unveiled that morning. Shoppers are the market will have a chance to sample some of the dishes and vote.
On stage and screen:
PNC Downtown Raleigh Movie Series - The 1980s retro flashback continues Friday night with a screening of "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" in City Plaza. The show starts at 6 p.m. Admission is free.
WWE - The WWE will bring their pro wrestling event to PNC Arena Friday night.
Redress Spring Fashion Show - The premier ecofashion showcase of the southeast is Friday night at Lincoln Theatre. The show highlights designers with accessible and innovative collections as well as emphasizing that "green" is in all aspects of life, including fashion. General admission tickets are $10. If you want an actual seat at the show, go with a VIP ticket for $30.
Live Music:
Cold War Kids - Cold War Kids, Wild Fur and Jack the Radio will play a free show at Red Hat Amphitheater Friday night. Gates open at 6 p.m. and the show starts at 7 p.m.
Brit Floyd - The Pink Floyd tribute band plays DPAC Saturday night. Tickets start at $35.
NC Symphony presents Pokemon: Symphonic Evolutions - The North Carolina Symphony joins forces with Pokemon: Symphonic Evolutions, performing all new arrangements and carefully timed visuals from recent and classic Pokemon video games! The show is Friday night at Meymandi Concert Hall. Tickets start at $38.
NC Symphony Summerfest - The summerfest series continues Saturday night with a collection of light classical music. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. and the show starts at 7:30 p.m. at Koka Booth Amphitheatre. Tickets start at $15 in advance and children ages 12 and younger are admitted free for lawn seating.
The Gravy Boys - This acoustic Americana band plays E. Carroll Joyner Park in Wake Forest on Sunday at 5 p.m. The concert is free.
Festivals:
Durham Blues and Brews Festival - Great blues and only North Carolina craft beers highlight this new event. The event is from 4-9 p.m. in Durham Central Park. Tickets are $40 and the event helps raise money for The Exchange Family Center and their programs to fight child abuse. Food trucks will also be on hand.
Ritmo Latino 2015 - This free family festival showcasing Latino music, dance and arts is Saturday in downtown Cary. Everything starts at noon and admission is free.
919 Music Fest - This free festival is Sunday starting at 11 a.m. on Glenwood Avenue behind Kirk Imports and next to Sir Walter Chevrolet. There will be two stages, food trucks and more.
