Weekend best bets: Diving for eggs, St. Patrick's Day fun

There are a lot of events coming up this weekend to help you celebrate St. Patrick's Day!

There are a lot of events coming up this weekend to help you celebrate St. Patrick's Day!

St. Patrick's Day events in the Raleigh area

March 15-16: Durham St. Patrick's Day Treasure Hunt - Walking Team Scavenger Hunt! - Guests will meet at Fullsteam Brewing and then depart with their treasure map on a walking team scavenger hunt where they will use their minds and feet to follow St. Patrick's Day themed clues, solve puzzles, and crack codes to find and unlock the treasure chest for a grand prize. Tickets are $20 for adults and $12 for those ages 10 to 17 years old.

March 15: St. Patrick's Day Kickoff - The Glass Jug RTP will celebrate 10 years in business with a celebration from noon to 10 p.m. with green beer, a food truck and more fun.

March 16: Raleigh's St. Patrick's Day Parade - WRAL's Jeff Hogan is the grand marshal of this parade, which kicks off at 10 a.m. on Fayetteville Street. The parade will feature no motorized vehicles.

March 16-17: St. Paddy's Block Party at Hibernian Pub - Celebrate St. Patrick's Day Hibernian Pub. There will be live music, Irish dancers, bagpipers and Irish fare.

March 16-17: Raleigh's St. Patrick's Day Bar Crawl - Single and group tickets can be purchased online.

March 16-17: St. Patrick's Day 2024 - Weekend Celebration - Bull McCabe's Irish Pub in Durham will celebrate St. Patrick's Day with live music, an Irish-themed menu of food and classic drinks. It will be family-friendly both days until 8 p.m.

March 16-17: St. Patrick's Day Celebration at James Joyce - Enjoy live Irish music each day, plus a special drink menu.

March 16: Shamrock Search Scavenger Hunt - Meet in Moore Square for a competitive scavenger hunt perfect for celebrating St. Patrick’s Day in a family-friendly & fun way! Find all the hidden green shamrocks in downtown Raleigh first to win a basket full of goodies from local businesses.

March 16: Tap Yard's St. Paddy's Day Party - Let the green drinks flow all day long with green beers, irish whiskeys, and hand-crafted cocktails created exclusively for St. Patrick’s Day weekend. There will be live music and BBQ.

March 16: Leprechaun Dash 5K|10K - The event starts and finishes at the Chatham YMCA (287 East St., Pittsboro). Register online.

March 16: Lucky You! St. Patrick's Day Pop-Up Maker's Market - This pop-up market will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 .m. at Gather Goods Co. in Cary.

March 16: Saint Patrick's Bash - Bottles & Cans Beer and Wine Shop in Morrisville will host this party featuring free wine tastings, live music, green beer and giveaways from 3 to 11 p.m.

On Stage

March 15-16: NC Symphony: Totally 80s - The NC Symphony and show-stopping vocalists rewind to the 80s with tunes like “Wake Me Up before You Go-Go,” “Addicted to Love,” “The Final Countdown,” and more!

March 15: 2024 Down Home Concerts: Dom Flemons & Shultz’s Dream - Shultz’s Dream is a project commissioned by PineCone to pay tribute to Arnold Shultz, one of the founders of bluegrass. See them on stage at Fletcher Opera Theater on Friday.

March 16: Fortune Feimster at DPAC - Through laughter and storytelling, Fortune shows audiences of all ages, backgrounds, and sexual orientations that common ground is only a joke or two away.

March 17: Ledisi at DPAC - Born in New Orleans and raised in Oakland, California, Ledisi has wowed fans with her unparallelled vocals ever since she burst onto the scene.

March: 15-31: Raleigh Little Theatre presents: Trouble In Mind - Set during rehearsals for a major Broadway production, Trouble in Mind illuminates the inner life of a Black actress struggling with her career. See it on stage through March 31.

Family fun

March 7-24: Carolina Ballet presents: The Little Mermaid - This ballet is set to the story of Hans Christian Andersen’s The Little Mermaid featuring live music with a new score from composer Aaron Severini. This show will feature brand-new sets and costumes. The show runs through March 24 at the Fletcher Opera Theater.

March 16: Beyond The Book Children’s Book & Art Festival - This is a free outdoor family celebration at Fred Fletcher Park in Raleigh. Discover author and illustrator workshops, interactive performances, collaborative art installations, creative crafts, talented vendors, artisan food, and inspiring entertainment.

March 16: Children's Business Fair - This one day marketplace will feature young entrepreneurs. The event is 1 to 4 p.m. at Downtown Cary Park's Frantz Square Lawn in Cary. Admission is free.

March 16: Ella's Race - This race is held in honor of Ella Newmiller, the daughter of a Raleigh family who passed away in 2012 from a pediatric brain tumor. The event raises money for The Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation and The Cure Starts Now. The event is held at Chick-fil-A Capital Crossing and Falls Village.

March 16: TheatreWorks USA's The Magic School Bus: Lost in the Solar System - Hop on the Magic School Bus for a ride in this new musical adaptation based on the original book series. The show will be at Garner Performing Arts Center on Saturday.

March 16: Triangle Camp Fair - If you are looking for summer camp options, this fair will feature an array of camps including sports, arts and science. It will be held at Wake County Shrine Club from noon to 3 p.m.

March 16: Spring Egg Dive - The Campus Hills Pool in Durham will host this annual event where people will drive, splash and swim for eggs and win prizes. All swim levels are welcome and life vests will be provided. An adult will need to enter the water with children 9 years of age and younger. Registration is limited. It is $6 for Durham residents and $11 for non-residents.

March 15-17: Kids EveryWEAR Consignment Sale - Shop for some great deals at this consignment sale open this weekend and next at South Hills Mall and Plaza off of Buck Jones Road in Raleigh.

More fun

March 13-17: Art in Bloom - The North Carolina Museum of Art hosts this annual celebration of art and flowers all week. This is a sold-out event!

March 15-16: Quilt Show 2024 - View hundreds of handmade quilts and shop for quilt-related fabric, machines, accessories and more during this event at the Kerr Scott Building at the N.C. State Fairgrounds. Tickets sare $10 and those ages 10 and under are admitted for free.

March 17: Sports History Trolley Tour - Explore Raleigh’s past, present, and future of sports on the Historic Raleigh Trolley! From horse racing to hockey, this tour will feature sports both professional and amateur as it visits locations still active and those long forgotten. Tickets are $12 per person.
