There are a lot of fun events coming up this weekend, including some great family friendly fun with reptiles.

There are a lot of fun events coming up this weekend, including some great family friendly fun with reptiles.

On stage

March 7-24: Carolina Ballet presents: The Little Mermaid - This ballet is set to the story of Hans Christian Andersen’s The Little Mermaid featuring live music with a new score from composer Aaron Severini. This show will feature brand-new sets and costumes. The show runs through March 24 at the Fletcher Opera Theater.

March 8: Godsmack - See the multi-platinum Grammy-nominated hard rock band's "more intimate experience" with untold stories and music at DPAC.

March 8: Cold War Kids - See the band at The Ritz.

March 8-10: NC Symphony's Rhapsody in Blue - See a favorite in Raleigh.

March 9: Gabriel Iglesias - The comedian brings his Don't Worry, Be Fluffy Tour to PNC Arena.

March 9: Celtic Woman - The 20th anniversary tour comes to DPAC.

March 10: JJ Grey & Mofro - The rock band comes to DPAC.

March 10: Jimbo’s Drag Circus World Tour - For the first time ever, Murray & Peter in association with House Of Jimbo proudly present, “JIMBO’s Drag Circus” the weirdest show on earth starring the many outrageous characters of JIMBO’s twisted imagination, from RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 8 and Season One of Canada’s Drag Race. The show is 18+ and will be at Carolina Theatre.

Food and expos

March 7-9: Hayti Heritage Film Festival - This is one of the nation's longest-running Black film festivals.

March 8-9: Carolina FiberFest - Dive into the world of yarn and all things fiber during this event at th North Carolina State Fairgrounds. Discover unique materials, learn new techniques and connect with fellow fiber enthusiasts. From knitting and crocheting to felting, spinning and weaving, there's something for everyone.

March 9: International Woman's Day Expo - This event at the Raleigh Convention Center features inspiring speakers, informative workshops and a wide range of exhibitors showcasing products and services that support women's well-being and women owned businesses.

March 9: Thrift-A-Bull Vintage and Handmade Market - This market will have more than 30  vendors and purveyors of vintage clothing, accessories and collectibles, handmade and craft goodies, art and literature. There will also be music, tarot readings from The Magick Makers, custom Chain-stitching by Jay Stitch Designs, and food from Coop Food Truck. Admission is free. It will be held at the Kotuku Surf Club.

March 9: Raleigh Brewing Company's 11th Anniversary Party - Help this local brewery celebrate 11 years in business with a variety of activities and attractions, including live music from local bands. They will also host the beer olympics, food trucks and special beer releases.

March 9: Tea with Seagrove Potters - Sample tea and pastries and shop tea ware. There will be gifts with purchase and door prizes.

Family Fun

March 1-10: UniverSoul Circus - This family-friendly circus kicked off in February and will hold multiple March shows at Coastal Credit Union Music Park at the Walnut Creek Circus Grounds. Tickets are available online.

March 8: End of Winter 1950's Family Sock-Hop - This family-friendly event will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. in the gym at the John Chavis Memorial Park and Community Center. Admission is free.

March 9:  Reptile and Amphibian Day at NC Museum of Natural Sciences - From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., both floors of the museum will feature dozens of exhibitors and presenters, live reptiles and amphibians and more family-friendly fun. Admission is free. This year's theme is crocodiles!

March 9: Rootle Roadster Tour Block Party - PBS North Carolina will kick off the 2024 Rootle Roadster Tour on Saturday in Moore Square in downtown Raleigh. This free block party will be held outside of Marbles Kids Museum from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be interactive exhibits and PBS-themed activities in the Marbles courtyard and community booths across the street in Moore Square.

March 9: Carnival of Animals - The Raleigh Symphony Orchestra will host this event on Saturday at Jones Auditorium. David Heid and Dan Seyfried join the full orchestra as guest pianists in Saint-Saëns’ classic, Carnival of the Animals, along with animal-inspired works by Haydn, Griffes, and Hovhannes. Tickets are $27 for adults, $22 for seniors and students and $10 for children ages 6 years and older. Children under 6 are admitted for free.

March 8-10, 15-17: Kids EveryWEAR Consignment Sale - Shop for some great deals at this consignment sale open this weekend and next at South Hills Mall and Plaza off of Buck Jones Road in Raleigh.

March 10: Geek and Grub Market - Elevate your gaming saga with themed cosplay, enter realms of competitive fun, and enjoy life-size Inflatable Hungry, Hungry Hippos at Fred Fletcher Park in Raleigh.
