Weddington WR Keenan Jackson decommits from UNC on eve of National Signing Day

After committing to UNC in June, the MVP of the 4A state championship game has decommitted from the Tar Heels the night before National Signing Day.

Weddington High School wide receiver Keenan Jackson will not sign with North Carolina on Wednesday.

The four-star wide receiver announce on the eve of National Signing Day that he has rescinded his commitment to the Tar Heels.

"I have decommitted from the University of North Carolina. Thank you to Coach (Mack) Brown and the entire staff for giving me the opportunity," Jackson said on Twitter.

Jackson is listed as a four-star wide receiver by Rivals.com. The recruiting website ranks him as the No. 14 player in North Carolina from the Class of 2024 and the No. 74 wide receiver nationally.

Standing at 6-foot-3 and 185 pounds, Jackson helped Weddington to the N.C. High School Athletic Association 4A state championship this fall. He committed to the Tar Heels on June 29, less than a week after his official visit to the school.

In 16 games for the Warriors this fall, Jackson caught 102 passes for 1,704 yards and 19 touchdowns. He was named the MVP of the 4A state championship game, and he is a finalist for the HighSchoolOT Honors Offensive Player of the Year award.

Jackson is also credited with a rushing touchdown and one kick return for a touchdown.

During his recruitment process, Jackson also took official visits to NC State and Virginia Tech. He also reported offers from Appalachian State, Campbell, Charlotte, Coastal Carolina, Connecticut, Duke, Liberty, Maryland, N.C. A&T, Old Dominion, and West Virginia.
