A Virginia woman was arrested late Thursday on charges stemming from accusations that she had sex with a 14-year-old Florida boy who was visiting family in Garner this summer.

Lisa Hess, 35, was charged with three counts of statutory rape and two counts of sex offense with a child, Garner police said Friday.

Investigators said Hess is a friend of the boy's family.

Search warrants in the case indicate that police detectives in Florida contacted Garner police on Sept. 6 after the boy's father found sexually explicit text messages and photos on the boy's cellphone.

The boy's mother also found Facebook messages that were described in the search warrant as "concerning."

Hess was being held Friday in the Russell County jail in Virginia without bond and is awaiting extradition to North Carolina.
