Victims of Durham double homicide identified

Durham police said Monday they had identified the last victim of a double homicide on Saturday as Rarnisha S. Woods, 20, of Crest Street.

Police were investigating the deaths of two people found inside a Durham apartment at 4800 University Drive on April 11, 2009.

Durham police said Monday they had identified the last victim of a double homicide on Saturday as Rarnisha S. Woods, 20, of Crest Street.

Officers responding to a 911 call found the bodies of Woods and Jamarcus Valentino Umstead, 24, of Apartment 19-B, 4800 University Drive, inside his residence in the Beech Lake Apartments shortly before 11 a.m.

Investigators said that both victims had been shot.

Police said the preliminary investigation shows that the shooting was not random but did not release additional details.

No charges had been filed as of Monday evening.
