No trial date set in case of Hedingham shooter

A trial date has still not been set for Austin Thompson, the teenager charged with killing five people including his own brother and injuring two others in a Raleigh mass shooting in October 2022.

A status hearing was held Thursday in Wake County.

Thompson's public defender said he's still going through the loads of discovery in this case.

This case started in juvenile court, but was moved to superior court where the district attorney intends to try Thompson as an adult. Thompson has been indicted on five murder charges.

Thompson, under 18, is not eligible for the death penalty.

The court will revisit when a trial date could be set in March.
