Softball Rankings: Seven teams join statewide top 25; four new teams in area code top 15s

Some upsets have triggered big changes to the HighSchoolOT softball statewide rankings.

Franklin, Oak Grove, and Weddington are now in the top 10, while six new teams joined the top 25.

No. 17 Piedmont, by virtue of its win over West Stanly, is in as well as Nos. 20-25: Bunker Hill, Parkwood, North Stanly, North Duplin, Southern Nash, and North Davidson.

North Davidson, North Duplin, and Piedmont were ranked two weeks ago and made quick reappearances.

Falling out of the rankings were Robbinsville, South Central, Lake Norman, Topsail, South Stanly, High Point Christian, and Enka.

Rankings reminders:

• Rankings are updated weekly and released on every Monday
• All high schools in the state of North Carolina, excluding athletic training academies, are eligible for the statewide top 25
• There is a separate top 15 for the state's six area codes that is also updated weekly
• Rankings are paused during the N.C. High School Athletic Association playoffs
• Final rankings are released the week after the state championships
