The North Carolina Center for Missing Persons issued a Silver Alert Monday evening for Jeremy Lavene Johnson.

Johnson, who is believed to be suffering from dementia or some other cognitive impairment, was last seen at 3213 Buckhill Trail in Zebulon.

The 21-year-old black man is 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs 140 pounds. He was wearing blue jeans, a white T-shirt under a plaid shirt and black shoes.

Anyone with information about Johnson's whereabouts should call Deputy Gay at the Wake County Sheriff's Office at 919-857-6967.

Developed in 2007, Silver Alert is a system that quickly notifies the public about missing endangered adults who suffer from dementia or other cognitive impairments, such as Alzheimer's disease.

It also allows caregivers and nursing homes to report a person missing. In the past, only a family member could report an adult missing.
