Several pets were killed and a woman suffered smoke inhalation Thursday after a fire burned a home in Holly Springs.

According to the Holly Springs Fire Chief, two adults and two children were at home on Hickory Glen Lane when it caught fire.

One adult and the two children were in the home at the time of the fire and were unharmed. Authorities treated a woman onsite for minor smoke inhalation.

Authorities said two dogs, three guinea pigs and a rabbit died in the fire. Family members say they were therapy animals for their daughter with autism.

A GoFundMe campaign has been established to help the family buy clothing and meet needs as they work to rebuild their lives

The cause of the fire is unknown, but the fire chief said a space heater was near the point of origin.
