Seaforth's first boys basketball season now has its first win.
The Hawks, having suffered two heartbreaking losses in the last week, left no doubt on Tuesday night at Southern Wake Academy, running away with a 72-13 victory.
The first-year school from Chatham County, named for a nearby former community that was submerged under water when manmade Jordan Lake was first formed, had previously lost to Harnett Central by four and Willow Spring by three.
But the Hawks (1-3) left no doubt when entering the Lions' Den.
Southern Wake Academy (2-6), in its second season as part of the N.C. High School Athletic Association, trailed just 37-11 at halftime but was shut out in a third quarter that saw Seaforth outscore the Lions 27-0 and the running clock begin.
