The family of Nash County deputy Jared Allison have partnered with the Nash County Sheriff's Office to create a scholarship fund.

Allison died while trying to stop a speeding motorcycle. His patrol car collided with another car, lost control and flipped on U.S. Highway 301 in Rocky Mount, ejecting Allison out the passenger side window.

The scholarship is named the Deputy Jared Allison Memorial Scholarship.

The scholarship is for $500 and can go to any senior that's part of the Nash County Public School System who plan on attending any college with majors in the public safety field, such as law enforcement, fire service, EMS or nursing.

The forms can be filled out until April 15.
