A Chatham County real estate broker was charged Friday with assaulting his estranged wife, authorities said Monday.

A Chatham County real estate broker was charged Friday with assaulting his estranged wife, authorities said Monday.

Eric Andrews, 40, of 7324 Silk Hope Gum Springs Road, was charged with assault by strangulation, second-degree kidnapping, assault by pointing a gun, assault on a female and communicating threats. He was being held Monday in the Chatham County Jail under a $1 million bond.

Jennifer Andrews, a real estate attorney, told deputies that Eric Andrews assaulted her, pointed a gun at her and threatened her life during an altercation on Chapel Ridge Road in Pittsboro.

Eric Andrews surrendered to authorities, who confiscated a Smith & Wesson revolver.
