Rape, kidnap suspect caught in Fayetteville

Fayetteville authorities arrested a man Monday who was wanted in connection with the rape and kidnapping of a woman there.

Eric Markeith Brown, of 1114 Norwood St., 22, was taken into custody Monday morning, Cumberland County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman spokeswoman Debbie Tanna said.

Investigators say Brown coerced the woman into a vehicle and would not allow her to leave. The woman said that when she tried to get out of the car at a stoplight, Brown busted her lip and then drove to a local motel where he raped her.
