Raleigh police ask for help identifying man accused of aggravated assault, escaping police custody on Sunday

Raleigh police on Tuesday requested public assistance in locating a man they believe is involved in an aggravated assault on Sunday near Green Castle Townhomes.

According to police, officers received a call of a man walking with a gun on Sunday in the 3900 block of Green Road. The man was later located near the initial call's location.

When officers arrived, a struggle ensued and an officer fired his gun. The gunfire struck a nearby building and the man escaped.

No injuries were reported.

Police believe the man, pictured below, is involved in the assault.
