On Sunday, Providence Day School rising senior defender Braxton Winston announced his commitment to play football at Wake Forest University. He is the first in-state commitment for the Demon Deacons in the class of 2025.

Winston plays cornerback for the Chargers, who have won the N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association Division I state championship each year since Winston was a freshman. Winston has played a significant role on all three championship teams.

He is listed at 6-foot-1 and 175 pounds.

Over his career at Providence Day, Winston has totaled 103 total tackles, five tackles for a loss, five interceptions, 24 pass breakups, a fumble recovery, and a blocked field goal. Winston also plays point guard for Providence Day's varsity basketball team, which just finished as the 4A runner-up this season.

The defensive back chose Wake Forest over offers from Boston College, Charlotte, Coastal Carolina, Duke, East Carolina, Gardner-Webb, Georgia Tech, Liberty, Marshall, Stanford, South Carolina, Virginia Tech, and West Virginia.
