At Hurst Middle School in Destrehan, La., Barry Guillot teaches seventh-graders about the wetlands. His students then teach preschoolers about their lessons.

Preschool registration begins in the next month or so for the upcoming school year.

That means if you have a child you'd like to send to preschool in September, now is the time to look around and make your picks. Many preschools will fill up by the spring or summer.

Some preschools will have open houses in the next month or so. These and many other preschools also typically offer regular tours for prospective families.
