A pregnant woman and a man were shot early Tuesday morning at a Durham apartment complex, according to police.

Durham police officers responded around 12:20 a.m. to a report of a shooting at 1126 Hoover Road. When they arrived, officers found the 26-year-old man and 22-year-old woman, who had both been shot.

Police said the woman's injuries were life-threatening, but the man's were not considered life-threatening.

Bahshira Magwood, a friend and neighbor, said she was shaken by the shooting, and that the man and woman did not deserve it.

"It hurt me. I was in there crying," Magwood said. "They didn't deserve it...she just kept saying, 'Please don't let me die.' So, it was sad."

She said the man and the woman were shot multiple times, and that the woman was shot in the head.

The couple's children were also inside the apartment, Magwood said.

"They are good people. They don't mess with nobody," Magwood said. "They just like to have fun. They will come out and play with the kids and everything. They're good people."

According to a spokesperson with the Durham Police Department, the baby was delivered Tuesday. There was no word on the baby's condition.

Authorities did not have a suspect.
