A family was robbed at gunpoint Dec. 14 as they were getting out of their car at the Pei Wei Asian Bistro in the 10000 block of Little Brier Creek Lane, Raleigh police said Tuesday.

Police are asking for the public's help to identify the suspect by releasing surveillance photos taken about 30 minutes after the robbery.

The photos were taken at a convenience store in the 2300 block of Highway 55 in Durham where the suspect attempted to use one of the victims' credit card. Witnesses said he traveled in a white four-door sedan to and from the store.

Police did not specify whether he was driving the car.

He was wearing a black jacket with a brightly colored Mountain Dew logos on the front and back.

Police spokesperson Jim Sughrue said this is the fourth robbery in the Brier Creek area since September.

On September 25, a woman reported a purse snatching.

On Nov. 12 and Dec. 9, two people making business deposits at the Wachovia bank at Brier Creek Commons shopping center were robbed. A weapon was present in both cases.

Although the cases are similar, police cannot be sure the same person committed both robberies, Sughrue said.

Anyone with information about any of these robberies is asked to call Raleigh Crime Stoppers at 919-834-HELP. Crime Stoppers offers cash rewards for anonymous tips that help solve cases.
