Police seek person of interest in Spring Lake shooting death

Police said Monday they are trying to identify a person of interest in the weekend shooting death of a Spring Lake man.

Horace Rufus Epps, 54, of Goodyear Drive, was found in the roadway in the 1300 block of Gary Street at about 12:15 a.m. Sunday. He died in the emergency room of Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Police said Epps was seen leaving a Walmart in Spring Lake with a man about 30 minutes before he was found shot. Security video from the store showed Epps with the man.
