Police said Friday that they have charged a 15-year-old with shooting a 13-year-old relative in a Durham house Thursday evening.

The shooting occurred in the 1900 block of Faucette Avenue shortly after 6 p.m., police said.

The 13-year-old girl was taken to Duke University Hospital for treatment of critical injuries, police said.

The 15-year-old boy was charged through a juvenile petition with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, and he was being held in a Wake County juvenile facility.

Police haven't said how the two are related. The shooting remains under investigation.
