Polar Ice House hosting free youth hockey clinic

To celebrate the NHL All-Star Game, the Polar Ice House will hold free beginner hockey clinics for kids ages 4 to 9 next Saturday at Wake Forest and at the downtown Raleigh ice rink.

The clinics are from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. Jan .29 at the Wake Forest Factory location and 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.  Jan . 29 at the Raleigh Winterfest Rink on City Plaza on Fayetteville Street.

During the hour, kids will be suited up in full hockey gear and learn the basics through skating drills and shooting lessons. There will be on-ice relay races and puck shoot-outs.

Registration is required and slots are expected to fill up. To sign your child up, contact Michael Baxter at michael.baxter@polaricehouse.com. The clinic is part of a state-wide initiative launched by the Carolina Amateur Hockey Association. Ice skating rinks throughout North Carolina will be holding lessons for youngsters to learn and experience hockey.
