A childcare center is on the hunt for a new home - after being told it had 30 days to vacate its current location.

Kreative Kidz NC has operated in East Durham on South Miami Boulevard for years, where they fill a major need for families in search of childcare.

Through these doors you'll hear laughter, reading aloud, and even a dance party. It's coming to an end, as Kreative Kidz is packing up all of the memories here and searching for a new space.

Kreative Kidz NC founder and owner Brenda Kithcart has big plans to expand, as the current space is at capacity.

First, she has to find a new home for her business. They were told on Halloween they had 30 days to vacate their South Miami Boulevard location.

"Stuff like this that you go through as a business owner, you definitely don't want to experience this. It kind of makes you figure out your why," said Kithcart.

Kithcart and her staff are beloved by the children and their parents.

"My daughter barely says bye to me anymore because she's so excited to see her friends and her teachers," said Mone Norman, a parent of a student at the school. "That just makes me feel really calm and really at peace to know that she's somewhere she likes being."

Norman is hopeful her family will be able to follow the daycare to their future location - especially because of the difficulty in finding other options.

"There's going to be a wait list, especially for my daughter's age," she said. "She's getting closer to two."

After moving from Durham to Mebane, Nicole Penfield kept her son at Kreative Kidz.

"It took us a year to even find a place," said Penfield.

Penfield says getting childcare is a matter of mental health for parents.

"I definitely think it is an area where there's a lot of lack in North Carolina, in regards to affordable care," she said.

Kithcart hopes to keep filling that hole for parents and students in need.

"We plan on keeping on with whatever God has for us. It's in His hands, though," said Kithcart.
