Man killed in Southern Pines shooting

An Aberdeen man was killed Saturday night in a shooting on South Hardin Street in Southern Pines, police said. 

Floyd Elmer Williams, 27, was found lying in the street, a few hundred feet off Pennsylvania Avenue, in front of Simon Funeral Home around 11:45 p.m.. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers from the Pinehurst Police Department, Moore County Sheriff's Office and Aberdeen Police Department were called in to assist with crowd control after many people began gathering around the scene of the shooting.

No arrests have been made, and police are asking anyone with information to call investigators at 910-693-1481 or the department's anonymous tip line at 910-693-4110.
