Northern Durham will have a new head football coach in 2024.

Former head football coach Raymond "R.J." Wilson confirmed with HighSchoolOT that the school decided to move in a different direction. He intended to stay in the role. Wilson took over the program in 2022 after the Knights combined for two wins over the previous two seasons.

Wilson is still serving as the head track coach.

The Knights' football program finished with a 2-8 overall record in both of Wilson's seasons as head coach.

The position has been posted to the Durham Public Schools job board as of Tuesday.

Northern Durham also posted openings for a soccer head coach for both boys and girls teams as well as a head cross country coach for both genders.

The Knights' boys soccer team finished the 2023 season with a 7-8-1 overall record. The coach was previously Villa Heron. The girls soccer team is currently 1-5-1. That team is being coached by Northern's athletic director Amy Green, who recently arrived at Northern after previously working at Durham School of the Arts.
