North Gaston High School will have a new head football coach in 2024.

Daniel Rothwell II announced his resignation on Tuesday. Rothwell says that his family is moving to Richmond Hill, GA.

Rothwell took over the Wildcats' program in 2022. In his first year, the Wildcats finished with an 0-10 overall record. However, North Gaston was one of North Carolina's most improved teams last fall as the Wildcats finished with a 5-6 record and made the N.C. High School Athletic Association's 3A West playoffs. The Wildcats fell in the first round at A.C. Reynolds High.

Rothwell posted the following statement to his X account on Tuesday night.

"I want to thank Mrs. House, Coach Martin and the Dallas Community for the amazing opportunity to be the Head Coach at NOGA.

My time at North Gaston has been nothing but a blessing. I will always be grateful for this opportunity!

BOYS I LOVE YOU and always will!

With that being said My Family and I will be moving to Richmond Hill GA, and starting a new journey!"
