Warrant: Mebane man sought help to hide remains

A Mebane man charged with concealing a woman's remains told someone he had killed the woman and needed help hiding her skeleton, according to a search warrant.

Michael Charles Dorman II, 32, of 1411 Sundown Drive, was charged July 15 with concealing or failing to report a death. He remains in the Durham County jail under a $1 million bond.

Durham police searched his home on the same day he was charged and seized papers, photos, a laptop computer, two cameras and a video camera, according to a search warrant.

An unidentified informant told Orange County Sheriff's Office investigators that Dorman told him he had killed a woman in Durham two years ago and needed help disposing of her remains, according to the affidavit filed with the search warrant.

Dorman then gave the informant a book bag that contained human bones, the affidavit states.

When Orange County investigators questioned Dorman about the remains, he said that he had found the bones in Durham and was bringing them back to Orange County.

Durham police have released few details about their investigation, including whether they have identified the remains.
