Fire at missing Granville woman's house ruled arson

Kelly Morris, a mother of two from Stem, has been missing since Sept.3.

Granville County authorities say they now consider the fire at a missing woman's house to be arson.

Kelly Morris, 28, was reported missing more than a week ago after firefighters responded to the blaze at her home at 3220 Tump Wilkins Road.

Police found Morris's burgundy 2005 Honda Accord (North Carolina license plate TXP-5917), keys, purse and cell phone some time later in an undeveloped subdivision about a mile from her home.

Investigators say there was no sign that Morris was in her home when it burned. Her husband and two children were not at home at the time of the fire.

Authorities do not have any suspects in the fire and are still treating Morris' disappearance as a missing person's case.

An active search is still under way to find her, and authorities said it will continue Saturday with K-9 units brought in to assist.
