Infant Found Dead In Raleigh Home; Father Charged

A judge Wednesday set a Sept. 19 hearing for a Raleigh man charged with murder in the death of his infant daughter.

The Raleigh police Major Crimes Task Force, police Tuesday had obtained a warrant for Eric Brandon Carter Jr., 18, who they said was the father of a 10½-month-old girl found dead on Monday.

Carter was ordered held without bond.

Officers found the child, whose name has not been disclosed, when they answered a call about someone being dead at 312 Colleton Road around 11 a.m. on Monday.

The baby and Carter lived at the house, authorities said. Police disclosed no information about the child's mother.

The state Medical Examiner's Office was conducting an autopsy to determine how the child died, but officials there would not comment Wednesday on the cause of death.
