Woman's death in Fayetteville may be linked to NJ murder-suicide

Cumberland County deputies said Thursday that they are working with New Jersey authorities to determine if a woman's death in Fayetteville is linked to a murder-suicide in New Jersey.

Deputies were conducting a well-being check Wednesday afternoon at a home in the 1600 block of Holloman Drive when they found the body of Shawna D. Givens, 38, authorities said.

Investigators said they suspect foul play in her death, and her body was sent for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

No other details about the case have been released.

Meanwhile, New Jersey authorities are investigating the shooting death of Dr. Giacondo Navek, 39, whose body was found inside his vehicle along a highway in Voorhees, N.J., a few hours after he killed a former colleague, Dr. Payman Houshmandpour.

Investigators said Navek worked at a military hospital in the Fayetteville area and that Givens was a nurse there. They visited family members in Philadelphia over the weekend before returning to Fayetteville, New Jersey authorities said.

Navek's family told investigators that he was back in Philadelphia by Tuesday evening and borrowed a relative's car, which authorities said he drove to Houshmandpour's apartment complex before ambushing him.
