A man cleared of murder charges last May was back in jail Wednesday.

Durham police have arrested 40-year-old Robert "Peanut" Gattis Jr. for last week's armed robbery of the Central Carolina Bank located inside the Harris Teeter food store at the intersection of High House Road and Highway 55 in western Cary.

Gattis was apprehended by members of the Durham Police Department this Wednesday morning at the Red Roof Inn at I-40 and Highway 55, where he has apparently been staying for the last three months.

Gattis has been charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon. He was interviewed Wednesday at the Durham Police Department before being transferred to the Cary Police Department and then to the Wake County Public Safety Center in Raleigh.

In May, a jury found Gattis not guilty of murdering two people last year during a poker game in Orange County.
