Families flocked to the Nature Research Center at the NC Museum of Natural Sciences for its opening weekend.

Starting Sunday, members of the military will get a discount to the N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences' Dinosaurs in Motion exhibit, along with discounts at the museum's stores, Daily Planet Cafe and museum memberships.

Military Appreciation Week runs from Sunday to July 27. Visitors showing their military ID will pay just $6 for entry into the special exhibit, which showcases 14 life-sized dinosaurs sculptures that visitors can move themselves. They'll also get 15 percent off all merchandise in the museum stores, a 10 percent discount in the Daily Planet Cafe and $20 off Friends of the Museum memberships.

The week also includes a special focus on the plants and creatures that live around our region's military bases. Did you know that Fort Bragg is home to a butterfly that isn't found anywhere else in the world?
