The National Park Service has confirmed that multiple people are dead following a small plane crash on the Outer Banks.
The National Park Service says the plane crashed around 5 p.m. Saturday into a wooded area at Wright Brothers National Memorial’s First Flight Airport.

The plane caught on fire following the crash.
The fire was put out by the Kill Devil Hills Fire Department and other local fire departments.
The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the crash.
The FAA was also notified.
The National Park Service says the Wright Brothers National Memorial will be closed Sunday, September 29.
