If you're planning on going to an IMAX movie at Marbles Kids Museum this month, you better go before Monday.

The Wachovia IMAX Theatre at Marbles will be closed from Monday to early February for some upgrades. The changes will include a new carpet, more comfortable seating, enhanced audio and a new state-of-the-art IMAX projection system, the folks at Marbles tell me.

When it does reopen in February, the theater will be screening "The Ultimate Wave 3D," featuring 10-time world surfing champion Kelly Slater, along with "Hubble 3D," which you can see this weekend.

Upcoming films for this spring include Disney's "Mars Needs Moms 3D" on March 11; "Born to be Wild 3D," a documentary on April 8; "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" on May 20; and "Cars 2" on June 24.

On the schedule for this weekend is "Tron 3D" and "Hubble 3D."

An update: Here are some more details about the upgrades directly from a Marbles' press release -

"The 270-seat Wachovia IMAX Theatre at Marbles will undergo an upgrade that includes a new 3D projection system and a new giant screen to be more reflective for 3D films. Downtown Raleigh’s IMAX theatre is among the first institutions in the world to upgrade to the new 3D IMAX technology and will remain the biggest 3D IMAX screen in North Carolina."
